The human race’s failed attempt to colonize the distant planet of AiJalon has resulted in their being removed from polite society. Humans and misturas (half-human breeds) are not allowed to own land or inherit fortune. Thus, the primary goal of the Bennezon family is to marry off their five mistura daughters to any non-human man. Witty and vivacious Elloree Bennezon refuses to marry merely for financial security. But will she let her pride and prejudice rob her of a splendid love that is right before her. This futuristic take on a classic tale adds action, adventure, mystery to a time-less love story.

Oh, all right. I'm a sucker for Pride and Prejudice variations, better known as JAFF (Jane Austen Fan Fiction). I own dozens of them and hope to acquire many more before the authors or I leave this mortal earth. But outer space? I'm not a science fiction fan unless the story is somewhat believable. This one, not so much. I realize this book was written with tongue planted firmly in the author's cheek, but really? Seriously? It was a cinch to read as the names were oh so close to Austen's original names. Just took me a few hours. And knowing the plot as I already do, I didn't get bogged down there. But this was just silly. I won't say it was a waste of time, but I seriously doubt I'll be re-reading this one. If the book hadn't been presented to me for free, I wouldn't have bothered with it. But at least I can say it wasn't a waste of money. If you've got a few hours to kill and nothing better to do, sure, I'd recommend it. But not highly.Product details

Pride and Prejudice in Space eBook Sybil Nelson Reviews
First of all, the title is inaccurate. It does not take place in space, but merely on another planet. Second, the names are all ridiculous. Third, humans are considered almost a subspecies or almost savage and cannot own property on this new adopted planet and since the the Bennezon daughters are half natives and half human, which is how the author worked in the entail of their home. Lastly, the reader is not really aware that the characters are speaker a native language most of the time because the author mentions that Elloree "Lizzy" is the only one on the "Bennets" to have learned to speak the Ancient native language, but never gives examples. The author doesn't give examples of the current language either your just supposed to assume they they are speaking it. When then Bennezon speak English, which I don't know why the would , one could make the assumption that although the mother is human, she may have been born on earth, but since the girls are half alien, they would have been born on the alien planet and educated there so why learn English, and why when it is spoken does always sound crass, and like uneducated hoodlums.
I do think the storyline had great potential, for example Wixsum selling girls into slavery and a member of the Royal family going undercover to free them.
This could have been such a great book. Am very, very disappointed.
I never thought I'd have a second favorite author. But this book.. this story changed everything in general! I love ALL Jane Austen's works. Pride and Prejudice in Space is just beautiful, refreshing, amazing, lovely.. I could go on and on. I love how the characters come together. It is as they are alive and you could just reach out to touch them. They are always full of surprises. Yes, this story does follow the story line like that of Jane Austen's but then it keeps continuing until we find the main characters fall together, as well as, yearn to understand each other better to create a SUPER happy ending. I must warn that this story does make you feel as though you are right there, watching from the corners of the dark as it progresses. It's lively and thoughtful. As a reader you get to go into the minds, well, thoughts of the characters. In that way you begin to understand how they feel and what they really want to do. I love the description of the scenery. It is full of beauty around. And the moment I caught Elloree picking on Darkeny during the beginning of the story, it's when it got to be super funny and well for the character being picked on? Confusing. Even his own technology and super brain couldn't make up why the lovely Elloree does things. LOL. It is beautiful developed. Amazingly fun and brought together to make you believe you're there witnessing all of it. I LOVE it. All I think about now are the characters. Most importantly, how it makes me want to repeatedly read over and over again, until I am satisfied. The author Sybil Nelson, did us who love Jane Austen's stories, a great favor in creating such a mind blowing continuous story as Pride and Prejudice in Space!
I had reservations, after all, I love Jane Austin. I hadn't enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I liked the movie. I loved this book. It was different enough to keep me fascinated and the writing was excellent.
If you are a P&P fan, you will love this story. While obviously not written word for word, Ms. Nelson was able to include every incident from the original book and then some, creating a magnificently original story. I loved the interacting between Ellorree and FontLRoy. This story is a must read, and I highly recommend it.
The dialogue is extensive and delicious (like the Priscilla the Great books).
It has a cliff-hanger ending, so we're waiting for Sense & Sensibility- In Space
Hope it doesn't take too long
BTW- the little violence is mostly by females who've been wronged by obtuse males, a much tamer Lisbeth Salander
It didn’t keep me wanting to read it.
Didnt like
