I’m on my 5th read of this. I keep going back to it as there’s so much good information in such an initial quick read. The biggest things from How to Act in Business for me are a new awareness of my audiences, that they differ and I need to adapt to their rhythm, that I even have an audience pretty much everywhere I go as a leader and must be aware of that; that I’m playing my role, they’re playing theirs, and it’s not all about me—I love the “sharing the spotlight” part. This is a book that gets down to some fundamentals that I missed in moving through my career. It’s about how you treat people in the actions you play, and making the time, just a little time, to adjust to each person and group. This business thing is an act—not pretending—but taking on a role and putting your best performance out there.Product details

The format is simple and fun, therefore making it easy to understand and embrace the concepts presented. In analyzing business communication through the art of acting, the author makes the reader more aware of his/her actions in the work enviornment and how he/she can alter these actions to achieve goals and communicate more effectively. He suggests embracing conflict and adapting to situations in order to get the most out of your "audience". This concept raises a sense of awareness in the reader as to how they interact with others and can have an immense impact on how they approach future opportunities in the workplace!
